Frequently Asked Questions
-
Oncology massage blends clinical knowledge with compassionate presence. A certified oncology massage therapist understands how cancer and its treatments—chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery—can affect the body physically and emotionally. Therapists make thoughtful adjustments during the session to ensure care is both safe and supportive.
Common adjustments include:
Using lighter pressure
Shortening or lengthening the session as needed
Modifying positioning for comfort
Avoiding sensitive areas such as ports, incisions, or painful sites
Taking precautions for lymphedema and other treatment-related concerns

Insurance & HSA/FSA
Zenpath does not bill insurance directly; however, some clients may qualify for reimbursement through out-of-network benefits, HSA, or FSA accounts when services are medically recommended.
Detailed receipts and superbills are available upon request. Coverage varies by insurance plan and is not guaranteed. Clients are responsible for confirming eligibility with their insurance provider prior to treatment.
-
A doctor’s note is not required to receive massage therapy, though it can sometimes be helpful for clients currently in treatment.
Please note that a physician’s note is required by some HSA/FSA plans when seeking reimbursement. We recommend calling your insurance provider for your individual details if you are paying with HSA/FSA funds.
Before your first session, you’ll complete a detailed health intake form, and we’ll spend extra time talking through your medical history, symptoms, and goals for care. Every session is adapted to support your body safely. Doctors are not always familiar with the ways massage is safely adapted for people with a history of cancer. If requested, we are happy to communicate with your care team to answer questions.
-
Absolutely. Creating comfort for clients who cannot tolerate “traditional” massage positions is one of our specialties.
When booking an Oncology Massage session, treatment often does not take place on a traditional massage table, but wherever the individual feels most comfortable resting — such as their own bed, couch, or armchair.
Sessions can be adapted for pain, fatigue, surgery recovery, medical devices, or mobility limitations using supportive pillows and positioning techniques to keep your body comfortable and supported throughout the session.

We kindly ask for at least 24 hours notice for cancellations or appointment changes. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours notice will forfeit their $50 deposit.
